You'll learn the critical techniques to lead climb and lead belay in the gym including:
- How to belay a lead climber
- How to catch lead falls
- Methods for clipping efficiently
- How to take lead falls
- The process for gaining a Lead Climbing/Belay certification
Group Size: 2 person minimum, 4 person maximum
Duration: 5 hours over two sessions
Prerequisites
- Climbers should have at least a few months of consistent top rope climbing before taking this program. This includes having a thorough understanding of top rope belaying and lowering, and be comfortable top roping at least 5.9 without falling/taking prior to signing up for this course. Students who do not meet this requirement may be asked to participate in alternate ways and may not achieve the course objectives.
- Edgeworks Top Rope Belay card
- Intro to Roped Climbing course or equivalent experience
- 5.9 or higher top rope climbing ability
- Participants must be 14 years of age or older
Participation:
- Registration is required for participation in Climbing School courses. Individuals who are not registered (including family, friends, and children) are not permitted in the instruction space.

- Rental equipment is included in the course price
- We recommend bringing your personal gear (harness, belay device, rock shoes) if you own them
Late Entry
Arriving late greatly impacts the flow of this course. As such, no entry is permitted more than 5 minutes after the course start time. No refunds are given in these situations. Participants can reschedule into a later course with a 50% change fee from the original booking price.
After the Lead Climbing Course, consider taking our Lead Fall Course to improve your belaying and confidence.
We encourage people to look into taking our technique courses as well. We have a Balance and Stability course and a Sequencing and Efficiency course to help climbers gain a better understanding of how to move on the wall.
We also offer a wide range of Outdoor Rock Climbing courses and Guided Trips, which help prepare you to take your climbing skills outdoors.

Cancellation Policy
β You can reschedule your program up to 72 hours before it starts.
β Less than 72 hours before the start of a program:

No refund or credit will be issued for any reason.

If you ‘no-show’ to a program or any portion of a program, no refund or credit will be issued or pro-rated. Missing the first session of a multi-session program constitutes a ‘no-show’; no entry is allowed into subsequent sessions.
If we cancel:
β Edgeworks reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a program at any time for any reason.
β A full refund or credit will be issued if Edgeworks cancels a program.
