What happens during tryouts?
Tryouts help coaches learn more about each athlete and determine team placement.
Athletes may participate in:
- Climbing challenges
- Movement assessments
- Fitness activities
- Team exercises
- Coach interaction
Coaches look beyond climbing ability and evaluate effort, attitude, coachability, movement, and team fit.
What if I cannot attend my preferred session?
Athletes may attend tryouts at another Edgeworks location. No additional tryout opportunities will be available outside of the listed dates.
Do athletes need previous climbing experience?
Yes. Team athletes should already have climbing experience and a basic understanding of gym etiquette and climbing skills. Athletes new to climbing are encouraged to start with one of our introductory youth programs.
