Itinerary
Day 1
Meet your guides, complete an equipment check, distribute group gear, and travel to the Heliotrope Ridge trailhead. On the way to the trailhead, we will check in with the Glacier Ranger Station to register our climb and to get an update on conditions. Once we arrive at the trailhead, we will start the 3-4 hour approach to camp. This day is dedicated to getting camp set up completing a skills training session. Day one ends with an early dinner and preparations for our summit attempt the next day.
Day 2
Summit Day! Our planned summit day will start early, as success on alpine objectives is often a matter of timing. We will likely start between midnight and 4am depending on the conditions. The climbing route will take us from Hogsback Camp, up the Coleman Glacier, transitioning to the Deming Glacier, and finally onto the summit. After soaking in the views, we will reverse our path back to camp.
Day 3
On day three, we will have a casual start followed by breaking down camp, and hiking back to the trailhead.
Alternate Option:
Day three is our alternate summit day. If weather or conditions do not permit a summit climb on day two, we will attempt to complete the climb on day three, followed by hiking out to the trailhead. This is a very long day for most groups.
*Note: Like any day in the mountains, maintaining flexibility with the itinerary is paramount. There are many things outside of our control such as route conditions, weather, and human factors (traffic) that could alter the planned itinerary. As such, we do not recommend scheduling flights earlier than midnight of the last day of your trip.

Alpine climbing is very challenging, and for many, an
adventure into new terrain. It is essential to be prepared for alpine climbing
objectives, not only to have a greater chance of success, but also to have the
most enjoyable climb possible. Below is a list of our programs that are
designed to help you prepare for this climb.
- Personal
Training – Developing a strong level
of base fitness is essential for success on any alpine objective.
- Alpine Climbing
School – We have numerous courses that will prepare you technically for
this climb. We highly recommend taking a Crevasse Rescue Course, or better yet,
an Intro to Glacier Travel program prior to this guided trip.
We love seeing kids enjoying the outdoors. Edgeworks allows minors to participate in our outdoor programs under the following conditions:
